Theresa is a postdoctoral researcher in sustainable AI. She focuses on the ways the environmental impacts of AI can unfairly affect human health, and approaches to reducing these risks.
Theresa holds a Dr. phil. (highest distinction) from the Technical University of Munich, Germany, supervised by Prof. Dr. med. Alena Buyx. At the intersection of AI ethics and Science and Technology studies, she investigated the ethical and social implications of AI-assisted diagnostics in medical imaging disciplines, particularly dermatology and radiology. Her thesis provides a framework for grounding ethical analysis in the social processes shaping technical artefacts. After finishing her PhD, Theresa stayed at the Technical University of Munich conducting post doc work on the ethics of Swarm Learning and a multi-sited ethnography on AI’s environmental impacts. Alongside her research, Theresa managed the Munich Embedded Ethics and Social Science Hub (MESH).
Theresa is an alumna of the Bavarian Elite Academy and the German National Academic Foundation.
