A multidisciplinary approach to understanding the environmental impacts of computing activities
The Cambridge Sustainable Computing Lab is a multidisciplinary research group at the University of Cambridge (UK) committed to better understanding and mitigating the growing environmental impacts of digital infrastructures and activities such as data centres and AI.
Among other things, we build and maintain tools for carbon footprint estimation (through the Green Algorithms Initiative), study their effectiveness in improving sustainability, research the environmental and health impacts of data centres and AI, and manage the Green DiSC certification scheme.
We are a team of enthusiastic scientists passionate about making computing activities more environmentally sustainable. We strive to build an inclusive environment for research, and recognize the value of diversity in the process of discovery.
